The Apple User Group will have a "strong presence" at Macworld San Francisco in January.

The User Group University will take place from 9.30am to 7.45pm on January 5 at the Argent Hotel in San Francisco. The programme includes a keynote by Christopher Breen; a seminar on the art of leadership; Web site do's and don'ts; attracting youth to user groups; .Mac for User Groups; and Introducing Panther: Mac OS X 10.3. Lunch and evening refreshments will be provided.

Terry White, president of MacGroup-Detroit user group and technical resources manager for Adobe Systems, will offer professional feedback on sample user group Web sites. Submit a User Group's url for consideration by emailing [email protected] before December 26.

Pre-registration for the University is possible before December 29 for $54.95.

The Mac Beginnings Session is an introduction to the Macintosh User Groups. It takes place on Tuesday, January 6, from 3-4pm and is open to all Expo attendees.

The presentation will feature members of the User Group Advisory Board, User Group Regional Liaison and Campus User Group Advisory Board teams.

Apple's Campus Group Advisory Board has invited campus user group leaders and supporters to take part in a Student Evening on Tuesday, January 6. The programme includes a roundtable discussion to talk about building and supporting campus groups and how to help them thrive. Email [email protected] for more information.

Other Mac User Group activities coinciding with Macworld San Francisco include the Adobe Leader Breakfast on January 8 – to be attended by five Adobe Certified Experts.

A session will take place on Thursday from 11am in the User Group Lounge, offering an opportunity to "catch up on the latest user group news, share your ideas, get answers to your questions, discuss how groups are evolving and learn how the efforts of the UGAB, RL and CGAB teams can benefit your own user group."

The Macintosh User Group will be located at booth #2445 in the South Hall, Moscone Center, Macworld San Francisco. Also available will be a User Group Internet café – also in the South Hall, and a User Group Lounge in the West Mezzanine room 250/262.
