The Geneva International Motor Show next month will offer a workshop looking at the synergy between IT, communications and the automotive industry.

Sponsored by the ITU and the International Organization for Standardization, the workshop promises: "A unique meeting of key players from the automotive and ICT sectors". The free workshop will be open to the public.

"All major car manufacturers are looking to incorporate some level of ICT functionality into their vehicles," the organisers explain. "The fully networked car is a goal of manufacturers seeking to offer improved safety and a better experience for the driver," they said.

Speakers from: BMW, Bosch, Cisco, France Telecom, Magna Electronics, Motorola, Nissan, NTT DoCoMo, Swisscom and Volvo will be in attendance.
