Vicomsoft, developer of Internet-software solutions, has been acquired by the BVRP Software Group.

The purchase is another sign of the interest being shown in the Mac platform by players from the Wintel world, according to industry observers. Vicomsoft develops and sells a wide range of products for Internet management and control across both Mac and PC platforms.

BVRP Software is Europe's largest communications software developer, with sales of seven million software units worldwide in 1998-99. The company has 450 employees, and was described as one of "Europe's 25 hottest tech stocks" in Fortune magazine this year.

In a statement, BVRP says it "recognizes that in acquiring Vicomsoft, they have opened up new Mac horizons".

Vicomsoft's Technical Director Alan Hart says: "The planned combination of BVRP group products provides a fantastic range of options for users".
