Mireth Technology has released version 2.0 of MacVCD.

The software enables the use of conventional CD-ROM drives to watch and edit broadcast quality movies called Video CDs (VCD). This format has been popular in Europe and Asia for many years.

The application automatically recognizes and plays the format on a Mac. It will also play QuickTime movies and can save VCD movies into QuickTime format. It will also edit QuickTime movies.

MacVCD allows you to scale the movie to any size – depending on screen size – and works with any PowerPC based Mac.

Version 2.0 fixes some bugs and adds support for multiple language VCDs, Karaoke VCDs and offers keyboard controls during movie playback.

MacVCD costs $10.
