Mac users whose chances of making it to Japan this year are slightly lower than those of waking up to find a Power Mac G5 under their tree on Christmas morning may enjoy a short iMovie of the opening of Apple's Tokyo store that's available online.

Called The Long Line, the movie, which is hosted on .Mac, shows crowds of eager Japanese Mac fans queuing up to visit Apple's first international own-brand retail outlet in Tokyo's ultra-mode trend-setting Ginza shopping district.

The movie's name sums up the scene that welcomed the store's first day – the queue stretches on for block-after-block, with concerned Japanese policemen shepherding the never-ending crowd at every street corner.

The crowd defies demographic expectations, with people from all ages, sexes and walks of life proving the popularity of Apple products in the region.
