Feral Interactive has released a demo version of its new real-time strategy title, Warrior Kings.

The demo contains tutorials that show the different strategic and economic elements to game play, and a complete level (from the beginning of the game) called Revolution. In Revolution, gamers guide Prince Artos and his small band in their first attempts to recover a kingdom.

The action is set in a 3D world combining military strategy with economic needs. Game units must be handled strategically. Players can put them in formations, train them up, and must use terrain effectively to conquer. Equally important, players must remain focused on their economic growth.

Army choices The full version of the title offers 22 levels and three different paths - good, bad or neutral. As players progress through the levels, they can choose between over 60 unit types as they assemble their armies. The full title supports up to eight players in multiplayer matches.

The demo weighs in as a 240MB download, and is available from MacGameFiles andMacUpdate. Released Friday evening at least 8,000 downloads of the huge installer have taken place already.

Warrior Kings requires Mac OS 9.1 or OS X 10.1.3 and a minimum 500MHz G3 processor and 256MB RAM. Brief testing of the demo indicates that the gaming experience benefits from using a higher-specification Mac. The title ships next week and costs £20.
