Macromedia has released two resources for developers: the Dreamweaver 4 Jump Start Kit and the Macromedia Accessibility and eLearning Solutions Kit, which provides a one-stop resource library for accessibility and e-learning Web-site building.

The Dreamweaver 4 Jump Start Kit is a two-CD set containing resources to help Web developers master Dreamweaver 4 and Fireworks 4. It was developed with the help of professional Web developers who helped select content they thought would be useful for people learning to use the software.

It contains video tutorials, book excerpts, templates and product extensions from leading developers, and is designed to help new users acquire the skills they need.

Streamline move "Macromedia wants to streamline the process of getting new and intermediate users up to speed on all the power under the hood of Dreamweaver 4," said Beth Davis, general manager, Macromedia. "The materials in this kit get users immediately familiar with Dreamweaver, make them more productive, and show them how to benefit from the tight integration with Fireworks."

Other resources included in the Kit include excerpts from popular tuition books, such as Dreamweaver 4 for Dummies, Fireworks 4 for Dummies and the Dreamweaver Bible. The kit also includes customizable templates and 25 extensions. It also includes a plethora of resources for Flash 5.

The kit is offered to new users as part of the registration process for both new and upgrading customers. Macromedia is also offering users of competitors' products a chance to change to Macromedia Dreamweaver 4 for £139, or the Macromedia Dreamweaver 4 Fireworks 4 Studio for £169, savings of £140 and £170 respectively.

Macromedia's Accessibility and eLearning Solutions Kit is also a free, two-CD resource for Flash, Dreamweaver or eLearning Studio customers. It also contains a host of tools and resources for Web developers wanting to make Web-site content accessible to those with disabilities, or who hope to create online training solutions.

It offers guides to relevant local accessibility legislation, and offers tools to retro-fit a Web site to fulfil these guidelines.

The kit is provided as part of the registration process for new customers, as well as customers upgrading to Macromedia Flash 5, Dreamweaver 4, Dreamweaver UltraDev 4 or the eLearning Studio.
