The wife of former Apple UK boss Jon Molyneux yesterday appeared at the Old Bailey to deny approaching three different people in a plan to murder him.

Mother-of-four Shelley Molyneux, 41, is accused of plotting to kill her estranged husband Jon, who departed Apple in June 1999 to take up a £175,000-a-year position as chief executive of the Internet business directory, Scoot.com.

She was arrested at Gatwick airport in February after a skiing trip in the Canadian Rockies with her boyfriend and three of her children.

The prosecution claims she had tried to take out a £20,000 contract on her 41-year old husband.

Shelley Molyneux stands charged with three counts of soliciting to murder between December 2001 and February 2002.

Today she spoke only to confirm her name, enter not-guilty pleas and confirm that she understood her bail conditions

She is accused of first approaching Gavin Burrows, followed by Sunday newspaper journalist Roger Insall and finally an undercover officer codenamed Clive, with a view to having her husband killed.

The couple's 21-year marriage collapsed last year and Mr Molyneux now lives with a 25-year-old girlfriend. Shelley Molyneux was granted bail.
