The 802.11g wireless standard - used by Apple in its AirPort Extreme products - has incompatibility problems, says NewsWireless.Net.

The problem is reported to be caused by the fact that a raft of 802.11g products are appearing on the market before the standard has been agreed, meaning there is no compatibility testing in place.

The report warns that some solutions appearing on the market are even incompatible with the older 802.11b standard.

NewsWireless.Net is also critical of the WiFi Alliance, which it accuses of being "helpless to intervene", adding that "its credibility will be hard to re-establish".
