Scottish iPod component maker Wolfson Electronics intends adding power management products to its offering.

The company's CEO David Milne told EE Times of the company intends launchhing such products. These would offer features such as battery charge control and the capability to "switch sections of digital chips on and off to save power".

Milne said: "Wolfson's passion for audio translates well into the portable market, and resonates with rising consumer expectation for the sound quality associated with new multimedia experiences."

Such components could see use in DVD-RW units, wireless HiFi systems, LCD TVs, VoIP phones, automobiles and portable devices, such as MP3 players.
