Apple is holding its sixth annual design awards, at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) at the San Jose Convention Center from May 21-25.

The deadline for entries is May 7, judging takes place the following day and winners will be announced on 18 May.

The categories include: Best New Mac OS X Product; Most Innovative Mac OS X Product; Best Mac OS X User Experience; and Mac OS X Technology Adoption.

Winners will receive a trophy and the right to use the prize logo to market their products. They will also receive a Power Mac G4 and an Apple Studio Display.

WWDC is an annual Apple event for hardware and software developers. Around 4,000 developers from around the world travel to San Jose each May to meet with Apple executives, and attend in-depth sessions given by Apple engineers.

Apple expects WWDC 2001 to be the largest ever.
