Econ Technologies has released ChronoSync, its native Mac OS X synchronization and back-up solution.

ChronoSync can back-up files and folders in several ways. Files can be synchronized between folders, hard drives, removable media, laptops, and file servers. The application can also handle synchronization between the Mac and other computer platforms.

The $19.95 application lets a user identify a folder containing critical data as a local target, choose a place to harbour duplicates of that data, and set the synchronization to auto mode.

The synchronization settings are stored as documents that can be run or modified at any time. Files can be synchronized in any direction, or bi-directionally. The application is customizable – so only files of a certain size or creation date are synchronized, for example. Special options that ignore invisible files, resolve alias, preserve folder attributes and synchronize deletions exist. A transaction log records synchronization history, and this can be printed out or exported if required. A demo version is available from the company's Web site.
