Xerox today announced a series of fast heavy-workload printers - the Phaser 2135, DocuColor 2006 and DocuPrint N4525.

The 21 pages per minute (ppm) Phaser 2135 N is an A3 colour laser-printer. It has a duty cycle of 83,000 pages per month and costs from £4,852. At resolutions of 1,200dpi the printer can reach up to 26 ppm. It has a built-in 500MHz processor, and will deliver the first page in 17 seconds, according to Xerox. The 2135 N can handle paper sizes up to A3 and has a booklet printing capability.

Automatic two-sided printing is available in the 2135 DT and 2135 DX – which cost £6,314 and £7,416 respectively. The basic configuration features 10/100BaseT ethernet and 128MB of RAM – expandable to 512MB. It ships with a one-year on-site service warranty. The higher-end models offer internal 5GB hard drives - for storing print jobs - and extra features, including duplex printing, more memory and larger paper feeders.

All in one Xerox has also launched the A3 oversize DocuColor 2006. This £10,702 combination colour printer and copier offers 6ppm in colour and 26ppm in black-&-white in both modes.

It will handle RGB, CMYK and Pantone files and supports 8-bit colour depth. DocuColor 2006 supports industry-standard colour management utilities and offers a host of technologies to get the right colour density and image sharpness. The Automatic Document Feeder will sense document size, and the printer offers up to 512MB of RAM, a 6GB hard drive and a 266MHz processor. It's network-ready with 10/100BaseT ethernet and Web-based network management tools.

Duplex printing The DocuPrint N4525 is a high-speed black-&-white printer offering 45 A3 pages per minute at 1,200dpi. It will roll out the first page in four seconds - according to the company - can print in duplex and hosts an on-board 233MHz PowerPC 740 G3 processor. It will hold up to 192MB of RAM, ships with two 500-sheet paper trays as standard and an internal hard-disk is available as an extra.

This printer costs £2,651, though other higher-specification systems are also available which feature more memory, larger sheet feeders and more.
