Speculation that Apple may adopt high-end Intel processors within its Xerver products has begun.

A new Intel Xeon chip is expected to debut later this year, code-named Tulsa.

The processor is a dual-core chip with a top speed of 3.4GHz. It will host built-in energy conservation technologies and 16MB unified cache built-in.

Apple's Xserves last experienced a major upgrade in January 2005.
