Intuos4 S review

Wacom’s Intuos4 range sits between the enthusiast Bamboos and the high-end Cintiqs. The A6 Intuos4 S (active area 15.8 x 9.8cm) is ideal for creatives on the go.

Wacom has still found space for a user-defined Touch Ring with toggle functionality and six customisable ExpressKeys. Designed to increase productivity and speed up common tasks, they require a little effort to first set up.

The detachable USB cable can be positioned for right or left-handers. Build quality is excellent and extends to the redesigned pen, which is well balanced and comfortable over extended use, thanks to a well-cushioned barrel.

The pen offers an impressive 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity along with realistic pen-tilt recognition for precise control. This is most noticeable when mark making is subtle and delicate. Wacom supplies a pen stand, or well, and replacement nibs, which are easy to change. The tablet surface also benefits from an upgrade, feeling more like paper than the previous slippery surface.

The Intuos4 S produces excellent results

OUR VERDICT

Wacom again sets the standard other manufacturers must hope to achieve.
