LaCie Hard Disk review
Formatted for Windows NTFS out of the box, this Neil Poulton-designed LaCie hard drive needs formatting before you can copy anything to it, unless you want to mess around in Terminal enabling Read/Write support. Be sure to copy the bundled Intego backup software to your Mac first if you want to use it, as once it’s gone, it’s gone.
While you’re waiting for it to become usable, you can take a look at LaCie’s answer to Dropbox. Wuala offers online storage in LaCie’s Cloud. Unfortunately, it feels clumsy, uninspiring and inelegant.
Once the disk is up and running transfer speeds are fine, but the hums and clicks of the cooling system can get surprisingly loud at times.
The stark, industrial design is certainly eye-catching but the quality it invokes is undermined by the Mac user experience.
