Lower East Side Audio Dock Air review
The Lower East Side Audio Dock Air, aimed at cool, loft-dwelling hipsters, appears more functional than stylish, a squat black box with minimalist controls. There are no audio-enhancing gimmicks. The solid, compact dock packs in two 0.75in silk-dome tweeters, two 3.5in woofers and two 4in passive bass radiators.
The unit uses Smart Speaker technology, which Audyssey insists will produce best-in-class audio, thanks to a mix of hardware and software design advances. It’s difficult to disagree – sound is rich and detailed.
Remarkable sounds from an unremarkable black box
Dance and dub fans should appreciate that while the speaker produces solid, deep bass notes, the sound is never bass heavy to the point of being muddy or distorted. Also, the speaker doesn’t appear to require a ‘sweet spot’ and filled the room with inviting sound in a variety of locations, including desktop, floor and shelf.
