Store 'n' Go review

Verbatim and Freecom are both part of the same company, and there are some clear similarities between their two USB 3 drives.

Like the Freecom Mobile Mg, Verbatim’s Store ‘n’ Go is designed specifically for the Mac, and includes both USB 3 and FireWire 800 interfaces.

It also includes the same ‘green button’ software that sets the sleep timer to save energy when the drive isn’t being used.

However, there are a couple of important differences that set the two drives apart. The Store ‘n’ Go is available in both white and black, and it provides 500GB storage for just under £80, so it’s a good option if you’re on a tight budget.

The Store ‘n’ Go romped ahead of the competition using FireWire

OUR VERDICT

It also proved to be a bit faster than the Freecom drive – both drives run at about 250Mbps when connected via a USB 2 port, but the Store ‘n’ Go romped ahead when using FireWire, producing a speed of 590Mbps compared to 373Mbps for the Mobile Mg.
