The Room for iPad review
Not to be confused with the notorious, cult-classic anti-film of the same name by Tommy Wiseau, The Room is a thoughtful, attractive puzzle game. The entire thing is set on and within one intricate safe, whose surfaces are adorned by strange mechanisms and logic puzzles behind which smaller, more challenging boxes lurk.
Some of the puzzles are bit obtuse, but the carefully contained focus means you can never go off course. It's great for that eureka moment when you realise how two apparently disparate elements work together, while an ever-present mystical 'eyeglass' provides otherworldly handy clues without ever spoiling things.
It's the tactile nature of the whole affair that works best, though - spinning the screen to rotate the boxes, sliding to remove letters from envelopes or carefully rotating delicate mechanisms. Very well suited to the format, this.
