Fitaide Pro for iPhone review
Getting fit and staying fit is never easy, but Fitaide Pro aims to help you stay on track.
It includes a choice of exercise plans from Couch to 5K or 10K, Weight Loss and Create Your Own Plan – which you can use to create, manage and schedule your workouts.
Sensibly, the app asks you to undergo a fitness assessment first so it can determine which plan would work best for you. It runs a timer while you count your pulse during exercise, after which the app works out your fitness level and sets your training program accordingly. The program is divided into different days with set sessions on each, although you can easily override the time of your session each day if you prefer.
Fitaide Pro coaches you through every workout session, with a voice telling you how well you’re doing, while also encouraging you to keep going. Throughout the time you exercise, the app counts the calories burned, the workout time (and when appropriate) the miles you’ve logged. Tapping the app’s music icon also lets you listen to playlists stored in the iPod app on your iOS device.
As well as using Fitaide’s plans, you can create your own, scheduling up to six sessions a week while also setting the length of each session and segment. You can set up a weekly target – calories, distance, duration, and so on. Or you can set up a challenge with friends or even sign up for an event or charitable cause through the app.
There’s a lot to like about Fitaide Pro, particularly how easy it is to create a sensible workout plan. Bar occasional freezes, the app works well and offers a number of attractive features including the use of the accelerometer to track movement in multiple directions.
