Otterbox Commuter case review
The Commuter case from Otterbox is comprised of two parts, a soft rubber inner case and a tough plastic exo-skeleton on the outside. The inner soft case is put on first covering the sides back and with a rim around the front edge to protect front screen when screen is face down on a table. The plastic case provides tough protection around the back and 75 per cent the sides.
Aesthetically the Commuter case is the most attractive designs offering this level of protection, giving the phone a tough but slim look.
We initially tried the case out when we were on holiday, wanting a sturdy case that would protect our iPhone from knocks and generally being thrown around.
After many months of use, in which we dropped the phone on five to six occasions, neither the plastic nor the rubber of the case have scratched or degraded at all, it still looks new.
Of course there's a disadvantage to wrapping your iPhone up in so many layers of protection – the case is bulky and increases the size and weight of your phone. However, as is proven by the fact that we have continued to use it following the holiday, this case is not so bulky as to completely ruin the looks of your iPhone.
While there are many cases that are far more streamlined and fashion conscious, if you want the best protection for your iPhone, without encasing it in layers and layers of ugly plastic, the Otterbox Commuter case is a great bet. And once the time comes to sell on (or pass on) your iPhone 4 because you want an iPhone 5, your iPhone will be scratch free.
