Shazam Encore for iPhone review
For the unfamiliar, Shazam listens to music playing around you and identifies it. In a quiet room, it accurately tagged songs in two to 10 seconds, and we got admirable results in noisy environments too. You can also search by typing the song title, artist or album.
Shazam Encore provides less of a flood of information than rivals such as SoundHound, but all the important stuff is there – title, album name, cover art, iTunes and YouTube links, lyrics where available – and it’s presented in a simple, no-nonsense fashion. A MyTags link takes you to a list of songs you’ve recently tagged.
You can also share tagged songs via Facebook, Twitter or email, and follow other Shazam users and view their tagged songs. The app integrates nicely with Spotify, too.
It would be nice if Shazam supplied playback controls within the app. The free Shazam Player provides this, but we’d like to see those features merged into a single app.
