When transferring the contents of a memory card or plugging in a camera directly, the process of copying files is usually just that. Copying. Ingestamatic is a cut-down version of ImageIngester – which automates the entire workflow of organising your images.
It also throws in additional functionality that you don’t get just by using the Finder. During copying, images can be placed into folders based on the date, file type and camera name. They can also be geotagged with locations, even if your camera didn’t do it at the time. It isn’t magic, though, you enter this data manually and apply to the images coming through.
Images retain metadata and can be backed up or have location tags added
Ingestamatic can also create a backup of the images onto an external drive, before they are removed from the memory card or camera. All the important IPTC metadata fields are supported and can be assigned to individual images using macro scripts.
