Plastic Bullet review

Plastic Bullet is one of the must-have iOS apps for anyone taking pictures. You can now replicate those colourful, grungy effects on your Mac, but the very simplicity that made the mobile version so useful is a drawback here.

The desktop version is essentially the same, but now you can drag in photos from your desktop up to 6,000 x 6,000 pixels in size. The colour and distortion effects are all applied randomly and can be previewed on one large image or up to nine smaller versions. There are dozens of border effects to play with and getting a new set of effects is as simple as clicking a button. Your favourite images can be saved, exported, or sent to iPhoto.

Up to nine effects can be previewed at once, but there’s still wasted space

OUR VERDICT

It’s very easy to use but the trouble is, there’s no control over the process at all. This is fine for the tiny interface of an iPhone, but the large screen space of a desktop screen is completely wasted. Still, it is very cheap.
