Netgear DGN2000 Wireless-N router review
Netgear’s DGN2000 is a compact and neatly designed router and, like the Belkin N+, it includes both a Wireless-N router and an ADSL modem at a good price.
We were a little disappointed to see that the setup software included on the CD runs on Windows PCs only, but there’s a note on the CD sleeve directing Mac users to the PDF manual on the disc, which includes detailed instructions for using the router with a Mac. Even so, we’d still prefer to see some proper Mac software provided with the DGN2000, as less experienced users might find the installation process a little confusing if this is the first time they’re setting up a wireless router.
Apart from that, the router works perfectly well and provided a good signal, even through the partition wall in our office. There’s no USB port on this unit for connecting a hard drive, but we like the ability to save power by turning off the wireless connection when it’s not needed. It also has handy security options, such as the ability to blacklist websites.
