Best iPhone 8 cases
The iPhone 8 brought with it a new processor, wireless charging, and (naturally) a hefty price increase. Plus, with the introduction of the luscious (Product)RED iPhone 8 we know we want to keep our iPhone protected more than ever.
Wireless charging is the iPhone 8's standout new feature, but it comes at the cost of a return to the old glass back, which means buying a protective case will be even more important. Bear in mind that we haven't yet tested if any of these cases interfere with wireless charging, and some thicker cases might.
It's also worth noting that the 8 and 8 Plus are fractionally bigger than the last generation - most iPhone 7 and 7 Plus cases should fit them, but there's the chance that some form-fitting cases won't.

iPhone 8 Silicone Case
Likely to be the first thought for most people looking for an iPhone 8 case, Apple's official Silicone case is designed to fit either the 7 or 8, and will offer protection from bumps and scrapes - if not serious drop protection.
There is a (Product)RED version of this case, and Apple has introduced new colours to the range as well, such as Lemonade (i.e. a muted yellow), Red Raspberry and Denim Blue.
It's also available for the iPhone 8 Plus for £39/US$39.
Apple iPhone 8 Leather Case
You can also find this classy leather case for the iPhone 8 (£45/US$45) and 8 Plus (£49/$49) from Apple. As you can expect, the leather case supports wireless charging. There's also a (Product)RED version, if you want to match the new (Product)RED iPhone 8.
The case is made of soft European leather and should only look better as it ages. It also features a microfiber lining to keep your iPhone 8 scratch-free.
The Leather case is available in a number of colours, including a few new ones: Bright Orange, Lemonade, Electric Blue (pictured), and Soft Pink.
Peel case for iPhone 8
If you want an iPhone 8 case that keeps it safer while adding minimal bulk, then Peel is the case for you. This is one of the thinnest cases on the market, and Peel's aim is for you to forget it's even there - they don't even include their own logo, so the design is still all Apple's own.
It's available for the iPhone 8 Plus as well for the same price (£17.98/US$24.99).
Ted Baker Glitter Hard Shell
If you're looking for something a bit more bling, this case from Ted Baker might do the job. It's also available in Rose Gold (£31/US$48), and there's a variant for the iPhone 8 Plus too (£29.95/US$45.95) .
You can also check out the full range of Ted Baker iPhone 8 cases if you want to see more.
Speck Presidio Grip for iPhone 8
This case from Speck should offer rugged, reliable drop protection for the iPhone 8, while the textured grip should help prevent those drops in the first place - and we think it doesn't look half bad either.
Olixar Gel Case for iPhone 8
If you want a little bit of extra protection but really, really don't want to lose the look of your iPhone, Olixar's ultra-thin gel case might be a good bet. It adds minimal bulk, and is transparent so won't affect the design.
Nodus Shell Case for iPhone
Nodus make quality leather cases for iPhone, and this one for the iPhone 8 is no exception. It is also magnetic on the back and comes with a branded, sticky backed magnet.
The idea is to affix the magnet somewhere handy like on the wall next to your bed or in the kitchen to literally stick your iPhone to the wall. It's quirky, but actually quite handy.
Also available for the iPhone 8 Plus for £39.99/ US$55.38.
tech21 Pure Clear case for iPhone 8
Tech21 remains a firm favourite at Macworld thanks to its sturdy and attractive rubber cases. They aren't the flashiest, but this functional clear case is the best one out there for showing off the colour of your iPhone 8.
Uprosa iPhone 8 Slim Line Case
Uprosa uses genuine microscopic images to decorate its cases, so you can wrap your iPhone in citric acid (pictured), caffeine, dopamine, magma, and more.
The cases are simple and should offer basic protection - or there are 'Tough' variants (£28.99/ US$40.15) that add a separate rubberised layer. You can grab an Uprosa case for iPhone 8 or 8 Plus (£19.99/US$27.68) and a share of the proceeds go to the scientists who captured the images to support their research.
Torro Leather Wallet for iPhone 8
Founded by two former police detectives (!) Torro manufactures its premium leather cases in Newcastle upon Tyne - though the leather it uses comes from all over the world.

Each case also comes with a free screen protector and magnetic wall mount, and right now you can get up to £25 off, or US$45 if you're in the US.
Snakehive Leather Wallet for iPhone 8
Snakehive's Vintage Collection leather cases come in a soft-touch nubuck finish, and manage to fit in a few credit card slots on the inside too.
Caseology Parallax for iPhone 8
Combining polycarbone and TPU, Caseology's Parallax cases aim to be as protective as they are visually striking.
The soft-touch rear is textured in a geometric pattern, which looks and feels great, and should help you grip the phone to avoid any unwelcome drops.
The iRing isn't technically a phone case, but it might be worth a look anyway. This metal ring sticks to the back of your phone and serves both as a handy way to hold it securely, and a lightweight kickstand.
iRing also sell additional hooks and docks so you can use it to mount your phone anywhere in your house or car. And if you're a Star Wars fan, there's a limited edition Star Wars 40th Anniversary iRing set due to come out soon.
Toast iPhone 8 cover
Toast's iPhone covers are a little different. Hand-finished from real wood, these are eco-friendly skins for your iPhone 8 or 8 Plus are more decorative than protective - they're just millimetres thick.
Still, that should help protect the glass back from scratches, and help your phone look unique - the Toast cases are available in three different wood finishes, with a variety of decorative options, and even the chance to add your own custom laser-cut design for US$59 (around £42.51).
Toast products ship from the US, so UK shoppers will have to pay a separate shipping fee.
Pad & Quill Bella Fino Wallet for iPhone 8
Pad & Quill is one of the many case manufacturers specialising in leather goods, and the Bella Fino is no exception. The slim leather wallet boasts a two-tone design, with the interior a different colour to the exterior, but still finds space for a selection of card slots on the left side.
While the iPhone 7 version of this case didn't include a protective bumper, this version now has a Baltic Birch cradle that houses the iPhone 8 to offer additional protection. The case is compatible with wireless charging.
UAG Plyo for iPhone 8
Urban Armor Gear is best known for rugged cases, and while most of them look like they fell off the back of a particularly garish military supply truck, we're big fans of the Plyo, which is relatively understated.
This clear case still offers military-standard drop protection and impressive build quality, it just won't cramp your style in the process.
