Where to buy a MacBook Pro

Apple updated its entire MacBook Pro line in 2019. You'll find 13in and 15in models, with 8th- and 9th-gen Intel processor cores and up to 8 cores for the first time.

The MacBook Pro are the most powerful laptops made by Apple, and prices start at £1,299/$1,299.

Here's how the line up looks right now:

  • 13in, 1.4GHz, Quad-Core, 8th gen (3.9GHz Turbo Boost), 128GB: £1,299/$1,299, 256GB: £1,499/$1,499
  • 13in, 2.4GHz, Quad-Core, 8th gen (4.1GHz Turbo Boost), 256GB: £1,799/$1,799, 512GB: £1,999/$1,999

  • 15in, 2.3GHz 8-core MacBook Pro:  £2,799/$2,799

Be sure to check which model you're getting when buying from anywhere other than Apple - some resellers may not be selling the newest models. Make sure you look closely at the spec and ensure that the price is reflective of the age of the Mac. You might also want to check our best MacBook Pro deals round up.

Where to buy a MacBook Air

The MacBook Air is Apple's ultra-thin and incredibly light laptop, available with a 13in screen. It has a big redesign back in 2018 and then saw a spec bump in July 2019. The new machine gained a True Tone display, but the specs didn't change other than that - so if you spot a 2018 MacBook Air at a discount, it could be worth buying. That said, Apple reduced the entry-level price, so you will want to make sure that any saving is really as good as it looks.

There's an older MacBook Air model that lacks the Retina Display. Apple no longer sells it but you might find it for sale. We'd suggest you think twice before buying it though as it's very old now.

For that reason you should always check the generation of the MacBook Air being advertised when shopping for a MacBook Air, sometimes a reseller might make it look like the saving is bigger than it really is!

Here's how the line up looks right now:

  • 1.6GHz, Dual-Core, 8th gen (3.6GHz Turbo Boost), 128GB: £1,099/$1,099
  • 1.6GHz, Dual-Core, 8th gen (3.6GHz Turbo Boost), 256GB: £1,299/$1,299

Where to buy a MacBook

Apple's 12in MacBook was discontinued by the company in July 2019. This didn't come as a huge surprise following the redesign of the MacBook Air in 2018, which made the two models very similar.

While it's no longer available to buy new from Apple, you might still find the 12in MacBook at some resellers and in Apple's Refurbished Store.

Where to buy an iMac

On to desktop Macs now, starting with Apple's most famous Mac – the iMac. First introduced in 1998, causing shock waves in personal computing, the iMac is now incredibly thin yet manages to house everything it needs behind its gorgeous display.

You can get the iMac with a 21.5in display or a 27in display with varying specs that'll change the price and power. Note that Apple released a new iMac on in March 2019, so be sure you're getting the newer model if that's the one you're after.

Note that the entry-level 2.3GHz model dates back to 2017, so unless you are getting an exceptional deal we would advise against buying one (especially as you can probably find a better deal on another model from 2017 with better spec).

Here's how the iMac line up looks right now:

  • 21.5in, 2.3GHz, Dual-Core, 7th gen (3.6GHz Turbo Boost), 1TB HD: £1,049/$1,099
  • 21.5in, 3.6GHz, Quad-Core, 8th gen, 1TB HD: £1,249/$1,299
  • 21.5in, 3.0GHz, 6-Core, 8th gen (4.1GHz Turbo Boost), 1TB FD: £1,449/$1,499
  • 27in, 3.0GHz, 6-Core, 8th gen (4.1GHz Turbo Boost), 1TB FD: £1,749/$1,799
  • 27in, 3.1GHz, 6-Core, 8th gen (4.3GHz Turbo Boost), 1TB FD: £1,949/$1,999
  • 27in, 3.7GHz, 6-Core, 8th gen (4.6GHz Turbo Boost), 2TB FD: £2,249/$2,299

There's also the iMac Pro, a highly speced iMac which comes in Space Grey finish. The iMac Pro starts at a whopping £4,899/$4,999. You can buy one from Apple here: View the iMac Pro in the Apple Store. Some of the resellers listed below may also be selling the iMac Pro.

You may be able to find some resellers offering discounts on the current iMac line up, plus some even cheaper deals on the older models if you're happy to get the lower spec. We have the best iMac deals here.
