Apple surprised us all with the launch of a new iPad at its 14 September, 2021 keynote event. While the latest glass is available to buy now from Apple and a number of other retailers, it also means that if you've been on the hunt for a discount on the 10.2in iPad (8th gen) deal this month, you might just be in luck.

iPad 8 prices will only drop, and refurbished availability is sure to balloon too, which means it's the perfect time to pick up a new iPad. We're gathering all the best offers here, whether you're after the Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

The 8th gen iPad went on sale last year, on 18 September 2020, and shares a 10.2in screen with its 7th gen predecessor (as it does with the 9th gen successor) but it's a whole different story under the hood.

Powered with a A12 Bionic processor, the iPad 2020 promises 40% better CPU performance, stronger graphics, and is the first iPad to integrate Neural Engine – Apple's AI and machine learning software that allows better image processing and AR (augmented reality) support, along with a smoother Siri experience.

To top it all off, the iPad 8 was also cheaper than 2019's model – and you can get it even cheaper from certain retailers, especially now that we're headed into Black Friday season.

It's worth noting that the 9th generation iPad has a £10 cheaper starting price than the 8th gen and offers double the storage at 64GB – we're separately looking at where to buy the 9th gen iPad 10.2in here.

In this article, we're not only tracking the best iPad 10.2in (2020) prices of the month but also which retailers have the device in stock, with quick, cheap, or free delivery, along with the best refurbished iPad deals.

Should I wait for Black Friday for iPad 10.2in (2020) deals?

Black Friday arrives on Friday 26 November this year, followed by Cyber Monday on 29 November, which leads to the question: should you wait until then for a better deal?

Yes, and no. If you urgently want the iPad 2020 ahead of Christmas and you see a stellar discount today, it's easy: pick it up –especially if you see it on the top-spec model. If you have the luxury of waiting until November however, it may pay off. There's no need to wait for 26 November itself, of course. In the past, the biggest and best Black Friday deals were typically reserved for the big day, but now Black Friday deals appear all through November and sometimes, as early as October.

If you see dramatic Black Friday iPad discounts before 26 November, just go for it! Some retailers that hold pre-Black Fridays sales also promise that prices won't go any lower on Black Friday itself and offer to refund customers back the difference if it does.

That said, with Black Friday approaching, we might see even greater discounts on the top-spec 2020 iPads.  If you spot deals at £400 or less, it would offer a bigger bargain that shelling out £439/$459-plus on the iPad 2021.

You may even want to opt for a discounted iPad Pro with the M1 chip if you spot a top deal over Black Friday (you can already save up to £43), we're seeing prices drop even further.

Where to get refurbished iPad deals

You might also be able to save on an iPad if you buy refurbished, especially now that there's a new iPad (9th gen).

Apple's Certified Refurbished Store is the first place to check for the best quality renewed Apple devices. These are devices that have been thoroughly tested and repaired, and guaranteed to work and look just like new by Apple itself. Right now, the Refurbished Store doesn't have the iPad 8 in stock, so you might have to turn to a third-party reseller.

Below are a few places worth checking out.
