Step 2 of 7: Step 1: Pick a layout

To begin, choose the layout of your comic book page by tapping the Create button in the bottom left of the screen to reveal a toolbar. Choose the rectangular icon on the left, and select your choice of layout by tapping on it. Your layout will then appear as dark grey boxes with blue icons in the centre.

Step 3 of 7: Step 2: Find your heroes

To select images from your device’s library, tap the top blue icon in the grey boxes. To take a new photo, tap the blue camera icon and use the iPad to capture an image. Change cameras by clicking on the icon in the top-right corner of the pop-up window. Use gestures to move, or zoom in and out of each image.

Step 4 of 7: Step 3: Get creative

Once you’re happy, it’s time to add some effects. Tap the FX icon in the top-right corner of a box to add filters to the image. There are a total of nine customisable filters to choose from. You can also change the halftone (the size of the dots in the filter), to large, medium, small or off.

Step 5 of 7: Step 4: Get characters life

You can find captions in the Create menu at the bottom of the screen. To add a caption, choose your speech bubble and font (as well as size and colour), and then start typing. As you type, the bubble will grow to fit the text. You can choose the length and direction of the speech bubble’s tail by dragging it.

Step 6 of 7: Step 5: Stick at it

Now you can add stickers to your images, which can also be found in the Create menu. There are a variety of stickers to choose from, and once you’ve found a suitable one, tap it, then drag and drop it into position on your comic page. To rotate or resize a sticker, tap once to bring up a slider menu. To delete it, tap twice.

Step 7 of 7: Step 6: Share with friends

Once you’ve created your comic page, complete with effects, captions and stickers, you can use the icon on the far right of the Create menu to save it, email to friends, or share it on Facebook or Twitter. The same icon allows you change the settings such as the border or email quality.
