A 3G version of the iPhone is "imminent" said Forward Concept analyst Will Strauss this week.

The analyst made his claims as the iPhone rumour mill continues to claim that the mobile network (O2) currently seen as the front runner by iPhone UK network speculators is currently enabling EDGE support across its UK network.

No matter. Strauss is certain the new 3G iPhone will be annnounced "soon", reports EE Times.

Strauss observed that Apple and 3G technology firm Interdigital last week signed a worldwide, non-transferable, non-exclusive, fixed-fee royalty-bearing patent license agreement.

This deal lets Apple integrate 3G technologies in the iPhone and future iPhones for seven years.
