If you, like us, have been keeping your fingers crossed for a 4oD update that lets you download TV shows to watch on your iPad, iPhone or iPad offline, you're in luck! Channel 4 has finally brought offline functionality to its iOS app in a new update that was released today.

4oD 3.0 for iOS lets you download shows over WiFi that you can then keep on your device for seven days to watch offline or while you're abroad. It's free to download content from the app too. All you need to do is register with Channel 4, sign in to the app on your iPad or iPhone, provide your address and you're good to go.

BBC updated its iPlayer app in September last year to provide the ability to download shows, and we've been eagerly awaiting a similar update from 4oD ever since. Having the ability to watch shows offline is perfect for commuters, and also for watching shows while you're on holiday.

The update also brings Collections to the 4oD app, which links TV shows together by theme or subject matter.

We haven't had the chance to test the update yet, but we'll update you with a review as soon as possible. Unfortunately, by the looks of the first few customer reviews of the update on iTunes, it looks like there are a few bugs that need ironing out, but we're sure Channel 4 will be working on a fix already.
