Apple has just annouced that the 50 billionth app has been downloaded from the App Store.

We couldn't have done it without you, says the company.

Less than an hour ago when we checked the countdown was at 49,999,621,999 (we took a screen shot at 21.46.25. It's now 22.31)

It appears the 50 billionth app was sold shortly after we took the grab.

Of course we bought an app at around 21.50, so we may be in with a chance of being the winner. We'll let you know.
