Production of a 10in Amazon tablet will begin in the first quarter of 2012, according to reports from Taiwan.
Digitimes claims that Foxconn will manufacture the units, citing sources at "upstream component suppliers".
The report also claims that a 7in tablet, manufactured by Quanta Computer, will go on sale in October.
No numbers are given in the report, though analyst firm Forrester this week predicted that Amazon could sell as many as five million tablets in the final quarter alone, provided it has enough units to meet demand.
Sarah Rotman Epps at Forrester predicted that Amazon would quickly become a strong competitor to Apple in the tablet space and would put other Android tablets in the shade.
"A year from now, 'Amazon' will be synonymous with 'Android' on tablets, a strong second to Apple’s iPad," she said.
