The Android version of Angry Birds, the popular mobile phone game, has been downloaded more than a million times since its launch on Friday.
The app was made available through multi-platform app store, GetJar, last week. However, within hours of being released, the demand for the game crashed both the app store and the website of the game's developer Rovio.
On Friday, GetJar used Twitter to announce: "We had 90k downloads in seconds and demand overwhelmed servers".
However, just over 12 hours later Rovio revealed on Twitter it had hit the one million downloads mark.
"Over one million Angry Birds downloads on GetJar in a day, no wonder the servers were down," the company said.
Angry Birds is set to be made available on the official Android app store, Android Market, in the near future.
