Apple has laid-off 174 workers from its Elk Grove, California facility as it transfers some jobs to a new site in Austin, Texas.

"In a letter to state officials, Apple said the 174 workers will be given opportunities to relocate or apply for another Apple job in Elk Grove. The company said it employs more than 1,100 workers in Elk Grove," Dale Kasler claimed in the Sacramento Bee website. "The layoffs include sales representatives, online chat representatives and others."

The jobs that were cut were Mac telephone-sales positions, said Kristin Huguet, an Apple spokesperson. "Apple's head count continues to grow in Elk Grove with more than 1,100 employees working there today, up more than 50 percent in the past three years," she said.
