Hidden within last week's haze of software updates, Apple stealthily made a new version of its Safari for Windows beta available for PC users.

Unlike Safari for Mac, Safari for Windows (XP and Vista) remains beta software, and is now numbered version 3.0.4. The update introduces new features and improvements, such as enabling the size of the application window to be more easily changed and the introduction of a spelling and grammar checker.

Apple has also improved Safari on Windows handling of fonts, introducing a new font smoothing option. Additional new features include the ability to list files on FTP servers, support for international inputs, a cookie manager and improve JavaScript handling.

The update also addresses a range of security bugs on Windows systems.
