Apple's updated v.1.1.2 software for the iPod touch and the iPhone is available for download now, as the device goes on sale in Germany and queues form outside Apple retail stores across the UK.

The software introduces international language and network support to the iPhone, and the much-desired ability to both add and edit calendar events to the iPod touch.

The software has been made available from Apple's servers but hasn't yet been made available to users through iTunes, though this is thought to be an imminent step.

Additional changes in this version of the software include the iPhone’s categorization of built-in and custom ringtones.

The update is also required in order to access The Cloud WiFi hotspots for free using an iPhone.
