O2-owned broadband provider Be has introduced its Be home monitor service - a broadband-ready CCTV security system for the home.

The system consists of a wireless indoor camera that connects to the Be Broadband service. Members arm the camera when they go out by pressing the “Armed” button on a keyfob remote.

The motion-sensitive camera will record any movement it sees. Users can be alerted by text messages, MMS messages or emails, and can access their online accounts to see what is happening at home. The account is accessible from any internet-connected computer or web-enabled phones, such as the iPhone. Members can also watch live streaming from the camera and view up to 100 stored alarm incidents.

“Be has always been about making the most of technology and our high-speed network is perfect for Be home monitor,“ said Oli White, Head of Marketing at Be Un Limited. “The Be home monitor service provides you, and only you, instant access to what matters most to you, your family, home and business.”

The Be home monitor service is a plug-and-play solution. Users simply have to plug the camera into a power supply and connect it to the Be Box. The camera is wireless and can be positioned anywhere within range.

The service has a set-up fee of £150 and a £5 monthly service charge, for which members get to own the camera and gain access to their account to view events (subject to a 'fair usage' policy and 100 SMS and 10 MMS alerts per month).

The Be home monitor service is available exclusively to Be members
