Bose has introduced the SoundDock Portable, a portable speaker system for iPod.
The device joins the award-winning SoundDock system, which the smaller sibling aims to match on audio quality, despite its size.
Bose engineers designed a new acoustic package, new electronics and a new power source for the new system.
Users can expect three hours playback at maximum volume on a single battery charge, though a low power mode switch on the system will elongate play back times. iPods are recharged while in the dock, whether the system is powered by the mains or battery.
The system ships with am infrared remote which features iPod playlist controls. Touch-sensitive volume buttons also are located on the unit itself, which also hosts an auxiliary 3.5mm line-in port.
The SoundDock Portable ships this month and is available in white or black. The recommended price for this product is £279 (including VAT). An accessory battery is available for £70 and a carry bag is available for £39. The original SoundDock digital music system will continue to be available for £199.
