Japanese researchers have created an iPod control system that lets you jump through your music just by blinking your eyes.

Dubbed the “KomeKami” switch, or “Temple Switch”, the system is an infra-red sensor which attaches to a pair of glasses and monitors the movement of your eyelids.

The system will control your iPod by watching for specific combinations of winks and blinks which initiate common control actions, such as play, fast forward or pause.

The system’s designer, Kazuhiro Taniguchi of Osaka University's Graduate School of Engineering Science, claims Temple Switch to be intelligent enough to make the distinction between deliberate and normal eye movements.
