The Mozilla Foundation has confirmed over 400 million Firefox downloads in just three years.
Writing on the Spread Firefox website, the company said: "With your amazing efforts, Firefox has reached 400 million downloads and demonstrated that not even the world's most powerful companies can keep people from a better, safer, and faster web experience."
Firefox first launched in November 2004, achieving its first 255 million downloads by September 2006. In the last 12 months Mozilla has seen 145 million downloads of the browser, a 56 per cent increase on usage in comparison to last year.
Firefox currently enjoys a 28 per cent share of the browser market across Europe, according to Xitimonitor.com.
