Gartner is back-tracking on its recent claim that Apple has commenced manufacturing of ten million second-generation iPhones, now saying it doesn't know if it has, or if it hasn't.

These reports emanate from an iPod Observer interview, which claimed Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney had made such allegations during a telephone interview.

These purported ten million iPhones were reported to possess 3G support. Gartner now says it doesn't know if manufacture has begun or no, but does believe the new devices will support 3G, and speculates they may feature OLED screens.
