After seemingly being set for a 19 January launch, News Corp's iPad-only digital newspaper The Daily has been delayed.
It was expected that News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch and Apple CEO Steve Jobs would take to the stage together on 19 January to present The Daily, which will cost 99 cents (about 64p) a week to subscribe to and be updated on a daily basis.
The launch event was reported to be taking place at San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art, but according to a report on the All Things Digital blog, sources familiar with News Corp's plans said that the 19 January launch would not happen.
The hold-up, according to these sources, is not to do with a problem in the app itself - indeed, some News Corp executives are already proudly showing it off - but with a subscription feature being built into iTunes. News Corp confirmed the delay but did not give any official reason.
The Daily will initially focus on US news, with editorial offices in New York and Los Angeles.
