The Daily, a news app for the iPad, will launch on 17 January, according to reports.
Created by News International and Apple, The Daily will initially only be available on the iPad, with no print or online equivalent. The title is expected to launch on Android-based tablets at some stage in the future.
A report on the All Things Digital site suggests that The Daily, which will cost 99 cents (about 64p) per week, should arrive on 17 January after initially being touted for a December launch.
The project has grabbed the attention of publishers and Apple-watchers alike, with Apple CEO Steve Jobs rumoured to be personally involved in the project.
Rupert Murdoch's News International has been attempting to boost non-print revenues by putting the websites of The Times and The Sunday Times behind a paywall, as well as launching an iPad app for the Wall Street Journal.
The Daily is expected to focus on US-based content and as the name suggests will be updated on a daily basis, with the new edition of the app appearing in the morning.
