Kids Company, billed as a pioneering children's charity, has launched its first ever iPhone application - Kids Company MouthOff™ - to generate funds for its work with 14,000 vulnerable inner-city children in London.
The charity has teamed up with leading digital interface company ustwo™ to develop a Kids Company version of their top selling, well received MouthOff™ iPhone application.
Profits will go towards Kids Company’s work providing emotional, practical and educational support to disadvantaged children.
Kids Company MouthOff™ allows users to choose from what promises to be aa set of hilarious mouths, which have all been designed by Kids Company children aged 7 to 12.
Hold your iPhone in front of your mouth and talk, shout, laugh, scream or sing to get your new lips moving. Uniquely, Kids Company MouthOff™ is sound reactive so the animations move in real-time with your voice.
ustwo™ worked with 50 children during two fun packed workshops, filled with a rainbow riot of coloured paper, scissors and pastels. The children all created their own individual mouth designs using collage, which provided the raw material used by the developers at ustwo™ to make the app. Ten mouth designs were then selected and the results are incredibly true to the kids' original creations insists the creative studio.
"Young people are so often the consumers of new technology, but this time they have been respected and honoured by being a part of its creation," said Camila Batmanghelidjh, founder and chief executive of Kids Compan. "And more importantly, our young people will be the beneficiaries of this beautiful collaboration. We are so grateful."
"Kids Company MouthOff™ is fundraising done right. This is a unique app release worthy of everyone’s attention," added mills, co founder of ustwo™ "Created with paper, pens, scissors and the incredible imagination of London school children, showcasing a real sense of 'creative expression', the app puts a smile on the face, while acting as a fundraising mechanism for a truly worthy cause."
Kids Company operates through two street level drop-in centres, a therapy house, a over-16s academy and in 38 London schools. Many of the children the charity supports have experienced significant trauma and neglect and live in poverty.
