Rumours that Linkin Park would perform at an Apple special event turned out a little blurred.
The band played last night at Apple's Soho store in New York as a secret warm-up performance for the act's show tonight in Madison Square Gardens.
Apple recorded and filmed the set for future release through iTunes - the tried and tested pattern for exclusive performance recordings the company first engaged in at its London Regent Street store.
"This is the best show in an Apple store we've ever played," frontman Chester Bennington quipped, according to Billboard.
Apple has previously hosted gigs at its Soho store, including: Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, Kaki King, the New Pornographers and Simian Mobile Disco.
Billboard claims "additional A-list acts will play the store in the days to come".
