Creative Technology has launched yet another iPod product, the Xdock Wireless.

"We're thrilled that Creative is joining the iPod ecosystem with the launch of the Xdock Wireless," said Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing. "Just place your iPod in the Xdock and easily play music wirelessly in any room with the great sound quality of Xtreme Fidelity."

Xdock Wireless offers an iPod dock and uses the company's own sound reinforcement technologies to enhance digital tracks held on an iPod in order that they are played back at "beyond CD quality", the company claims.

The system integrates with X-Fi Wireless Receivers that can be situated around the house, and the dock can be connected to any power stereo system. The whole system is certified under the Made for iPod scheme.

"We designed the Xdock Wireless so an iPod can easily become the audio platform for your entire home," said Sim Wong Hoo, chairman and CEO of Creative. "Your iPod goes in the Xdock Wireless to play music through X-Fi Wireless Receivers in as many rooms as you want — all upconverted to Xtreme Fidelity."

Creative's award-winning X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity is produced with X-Fi Crystalizer and X-Fi CMSS-3D technology. The X-Fi Crystalizer makes MP3s sound better than CDs by analysing and identifying which parts of the audio stream have been truncated or damaged during compression. It then intelligently and selectively restores the highs and lows from instruments and vocals that are damaged during the compression of MP3s.

Additional features include S-video and composite video-out connections — so digital photos and videos stored on an iPod can be displayed on a TV screen— a wireless remote, and a 100ft range.

The Creative Xdock Wireless will be available for $199.99 and receivers will cost $99.99. The products are scheduled to ship in spring in the US, UK details haven't yet been announced.
