Macworld UK has opened up a virtual office within Second Life.

The office - situated within Second Life's Media City island - offers all the latest news and information from the Macworld UK website, plus visitors can leave messages for the Macworld team that are emailed directly from the virtual world to Macworld UK's London-based office.

Visitors to Macworld's offices can also take a virtual tour of Apple's flagship NY Store, conveniently situated across the road; next door is a VIP area hosted by Mac training and support company, Macanix.

Mark Hattersley, Macworld UK editor said: "Opening up an office in Second Life is an experiment we've had planned for a while. On a professional level, it gives us a chance to take the website and print magazine into an exciting new arena. We don't expect to make any money out of Second Life (virtual or otherwise), but believe our presence can only have a beneficial effect on the rest of our efforts. Aside from all of that, we're sure it'll be a great way for Macworld's readers and the team to interact with one another."
