Maker Faire Newcastle 2011 has launched its search for Makers to take part in what promises to be the nations biggest gathering of talented tinkerers, nifty knitters, boffin bakers, hardware hackers and ingenious engineers.
Embracing all aspects of DIY creativity, the Makers are invited to share their creations at Maker Faire Newcastle 2011, part of the Newcastle Science Fest, which runs from 12 to 13 March 2011.
Last year over 150 Makers showed off fire breathing mechanical horses, lollipop pies, steam punk groups and musicians playing giant tesla coils. To participate, the Makers need to submit their plans for a project and register at www.makerfaireuk.com.
The organisers are looking for original creations, large or small, to feature at the event. Ideas that get the visitors involved are always popular insists the organisers, and the previous event taught visitors everything from soldering to pie making.
Registration closes on 26 November 2010, for the event next year at Newcastle’s Centre For Life.
You can find more details of the event at www.makerfaire.com.
The event is presented by MAKE Magazine, which aims to bring the do-it-yourself mindset to all the technology in your life.
