The success of Apple CEO Steve Jobs should be celebrated, according to US President Barack Obama.

CNet News reported that Obama made the comments during a White House press conference on Wednesday.

"We celebrate somebody like a Steve Jobs, who has created two or three different revolutionary products. We expect that person to be rich, and that's a good thing. We want that incentive. That's part of the free market," President Obama said.

According to Obama, the thriving, booming American middle class, "where everybody has got a shot at the American dream", is the country's biggest strength.

Jobs' worth has certainly been appreciated this week, with the UK's Financial Times voting the Apple CEO Person Of The Year for 2010.
